Station post insulators contribute to substation design by limiting arcing distances at busbars, disconnectors and other apparatus. Post insulator design can be optimized by selecting housing material, reducing diameter, maximizing mechanical strength and stiffness, reducing number of stacks and by most suitable shed profile and creepage factor.
