Research & Experience with Coatings on Glass Insulators & Conductors by Michele de Nigris

Overhead lines can be subjected to environmental stresses such as pollution, wind, snowfalls, thunderstorms. This online lecture provides an update on recent research conducted in Italy and focuses on two major threats: surface pollution on line insulators and wet snow sleeve build up on conductors and ground wires. Means and tools to monitor related stresses are discussed as is development of measures to mitigate the effects of these threats, such as application of special coatings.
