Evaluation of Hydrophobicity Recovery of Composite Insulators: Test Methods
by Igor Gutman

A key feature of silicone housings of composite insulators is their ability to recover surface hydrophobicity, which should ideally last over the entire service life. In-service pollution performance will be good if a material can produce Low Molecular Weight components that penetrate into the pollution layer and encapsulate the salts.
