Recycling Ceramic Insulators
by Markku Ruokanen

At the end of their long service life, high voltage porcelain insulators should not be handled as normal ceramic waste since this will reduce their real residual value based on their high content of alumina – often equivalent to the best bauxite mines. This aspect must be considered in any cost analysis since it will help reduce dismantling and waste removal costs.
